On this longest day we gather together to honour the sacred light of summer, how it feels on our skin, the softness of warm muscles, the deeper breath of ease. Loonsong, it’s gifts of river, grass, woods, stones, loons, owls and babbling brook all invite you to receive the gift of time away, time to self, time to re-discover the body anew. We will celebrate this long day together in ways that heal, that invite voice, laughter and the sharing of stories as our lives unfold.

Lunch made with love from locally grown and sourced veggies is included as well as snacks and beverage throughout the day. We keep it simple and satisfying.

Making Space: A Yoga Retreat

A day for personal well-being becomes a radical act of self-love in this period of the seemingly escalated movement of our lives. It is in these times when we need to inquire deeply into the quality of what we are taking in as well as what we are able to return, how well are we serving those we love? Even small acts of self care can begin to create change for individuals simply through the creation of more space within. A day or two away for the sole purpose of ‘making space’ for replenishment cannot be overestimated in its impact and benefit to yourself and to those who love you. And a day at Loonsong with Bethany holds a quality and an allure that those who know, know.

On this day of Eclipse, and one of only 2 days each year that we have this opportunity with Bethany, we will gather at Life As Art Studio with the intention of making space within our lives to step in, to seek and bless within ourselves whatever we currently need and to do this within community to share and to sense belonging.

Qigong and Gentle Movement Retreat

 

Carol Anne Landry and Kathi Ryan join together to offer a weekend of Qigong Movement blended with Nia. Both of these practices move ‘chi’ or energy through the body and offer an overall sense of well-being. The intention of this retreat is to increase body literacy through sensing the voices of the body and to discover ourselves in new ways. By combining these two techniques (and Meditation) we will feel an aliveness and create a balance that will sustain us beyond the weekend.

Sheng Zhen Gong is a system of Qigong that is unique in that it focuses on Opening the Heart and teaching that Love and qi are original, universal energies that are never separate from one another. As one’s Heart naturally opens through the regular practice of Sheng Zhen Gong, Love and qi begin to flow through the practitioner. As eloquently stated by Master Li Jun Feng, “Sheng Zhen Qigong is movement and non-movement combined; internal as well as external; physical as well as spiritual. It benefits the body and your life. The heart and the spirit return to simplicity and freshness. You can be in the present to enjoy every moment in life, to taste the fullness of life.”

Nia blends nine movement forms into a movement practice that is
sustainable for the body and which addresses the whole person. With only
52 Moves Nia brings conscious awareness to every body part and teaches us
how to LIVE in and LOVE the body. In this workshop we will be touching
on only some of the many aspects of the Nia Technique so consider this an
introduction to moving energy a little differently. Nia is a safe, gentle practice that meets you right where you are.

Sheng Zhen Gong is a system of Qigong that is unique in that it focuses on Opening the Heart and teaching that Love and Qi are original, universal energies that are never separate from one another. The theory is that everything came into being through the power of Love, including Qi. As one’s Heart naturally opens through the regular practice of Sheng Zhen Gong, Love and Qi begin to flow through the practitioner. In time, one begins to experience that, indeed, Sheng Zhen, or unconditional love, resides within oneself, transforming ones consciousness and view of life and the world.

Kathi Ryan is owner/operator of Loonsong and is available during this retreat for whatever you need to feel safe and comfortable. Kathi prepares delicious healthy food from local and organic suppliers.

Carol Anne was first introduced to Sheng Zhen Gong in 2003 through Dr. Rose Johnston. After attending a weekend with Master Li in Mahone Bay in 2009 she began teaching weekly classes in Antigonish. Her class has been offered through Recreations Programs in both the Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury areas, as well as yoga studios and meditation centres. In 2014 she attended a 10 day teacher training with Master Li and Jing and is now inspired to teach full day workshops a couple of times a year in the Antigonish area.
